Many Uses, One Trail

* For the first 9 miles, the trail consists of a single 10-foot wide paved trail that is well suited to bicycling, in-line skating, walking and jogging.
* The paved trail then narrows to 8 feet and it is joined by a separate limestone trail.
* Although primarily designed for horseback riding, carriage driving and cross-country skiing, this unpaved trail is not closed to other uses.

* Unauthorized motorized vehicles are not permitted anywhere on the trail.
* The Gateway Trail stretches across level ground and is accessible to people with disabilities and the elderly.
