On August 31, long time friend of the Gateway Trail and Executive Director of the Bicycle Alliance, Dorian Grille was hit by a car on the Gateway Trail as he was crossing Hadley Avenue. He was taken to Regions Hospital and is in fair condition. He will under go surgery later this week on his shoulders. Dorian was wearing a helmet which likely prevented even more serious injuries. Temporary Trail Closure, CR15 to CR 55 Changed to 9/7-9/21
The Department of Natural resources (DNR) has advised that the portion of the trail from CR 15/ Manning Trail to CR 55/ Norell Avenue (roughly Mile Posts 16 to 18) will be closed from Tuesday, September 7 to Tuesday, September 21 for a trail widening project. The DNR advises that it is important that trail users not circumvent the trail closure barriers to use the trail. Below is a map of the portion of the trail that will be closed. Initially, the DNR scheduled the closure over the Labor Day weekend but decided to delay the closure to allow users access during the Labor Day Weekend Holiday. ________________________________________________________
